Adobe has jumped into the online photo storage and editing game by Launching Photoshop Express. A bit late as there are existing players like Picnik that are already serving as Image Editors for big ticket Players -- Flickr, Photobucket, MySpace, Facebook & Picasa.
Adobe Photoshop Express also supports uploading images to Facebook, Picasa and gives 2GB of free online storage space. I am not sure what the business model will be for Adobe (ADBE). The application is not Ad supported. Some time ago Leading Stock Photo provider Getty Images became available for Sale!
You would need Flash version 9 installed to use Photoshop Express. Registration to Photoshop Express will also create an online web gallery url for you. Using the app is easy, you simply upload a pic from your desktop and use editing tools. The tools looked very intuitive and usable -- far from the complex enviornment of the desktop version of Photoshop.
For Desktop software companies like Adobe and Microsoft making new business on the Web is a huge callenge. Adobe has already gone through the learning curve via Flash, and PDF -- but giving away consumer applications free -- thats a new. It will be interesting to see Adobe's next steps to not remain a desktop sotware company.
