Tata Nano proves India’s Tech strength beyond IT

If India's IT industry has become the torchbearer in spreading Brand "Tech India" worldwide, Tata Nova is the innovation that will give fresh & perhaps unprecedented momentum to this brand. Ratan Tata calls Nano the biggest thing he has done in his life! View photos of the people's car on Flickr 

In some parts of the sceptical media the Indian Tech story would start and end at IT & sotware coding. It was a one off. Nano showcases India's ingenuity in technology, management, design and delivery. Below is YouTube video on Nano launch.

The fact is that India has been building momentum in the Auto Tech hub and Engineering Design space for a long time. Nano will give a face to that invisible activity. Gavin Rabinowitz of Associated Press says just that:

Tata Motors' new $2,500 four-door subcompact — the world's cheapest car — may yield a transportation revolution as big as Henry Ford's Model T…Industry analysts…say the car may soon deliver to India and the rest of the developing world unprecedented mobility.

The International Car Market will be changed forever by the Indian innovation. As the Marketing Blurb notes:

Car manufacturers are watching the Tata Nano story carefully, and already Renault SA and Nissan Motor Co. are working to develop a car that will cost less than $3,000…

Though I am not necessarily a fan of the Tata Group, I salute Ratan Tata for his vision and tremendous achievement! Here is the Tata Press release for Nano.
