Global Top 100 Tech Startups 2007 Finalists (Red Herring)
Red Herring has named 200 companies as the finalists of Top 100 Tech Startups in the world for 2007. The finalists are from three continents Asia, Europe and North America with North America contributing almost 50% of these finalists — a total of 98 amongst the 200. Asia (47) and Europe (55) contribute 23.5 and 27.5% of the rest of the finalists. Over concentration in 3 continents isn't a good sign for those looking for widely dispersed Innovation Activities.
Amongst the 200 finalists 2 sectors dominate. Communications sector has 21.5% companies (43 in total) and Internet & Services sector has 22% companies (44 in total). Biosciences though a hot field has only 7.5% finalists.
