Google is missing because the rankings have been done in June 2007 for companies listed for atleast 3 years companies. Google's IPO happened in Aug 04. In the overall list for all industries 37 of the Top 100 are Energy Companies!
Other well known Tech players making the Fortune 100 in Tech are: Cognizant, RedHat, Juniper, Nvidia, Tibco, eBay, Yahoo!, Digital River, Network Appliance, Netflix. Yahoo! is ranked 46th in the Tech List despite its stock's recent poor performance. The rankings account for the growth in following 4 factors with different relative weights:
- Operating Cash Flow - 40%
- Revenue Growth - 20%
- Profit Growth - 20%
- 12-month stock return (as of Dec 31, 2006) - 20%
The criteria for being reviewed in the Fortune 100 Fastest growing rankings is: "2,000 tech companies that have been publicly traded on a U.S. stock exchange for at least three years, have a market capitalization of at least $50 million, and have had positive operating cash flow over the past 12 months"
