Yahoo! India Launches Our City Product for 6 Indian Metros

by Ujwal Tickoo on February 13th, 2007

If you are a resident of Bangalore, Chennai, Delhi, Hyderabad, Kolkata or Mumbai and want to catch up on the events, news, photos, blogs, etc about your city — life just got easier. Yahoo! has launched a new product just for you. Yahoo! OurCity will add more Indian cities and features in the coming months.

You can check out the blog for OurCity and pester the product team for more features or cities of your interest. OurCity comes with local language pages in Kannada, Marathi, Tamil, Telugu, and Bengali for the relevant cities. In short its a great online resource to get content about the city you live in and love.

My 2 Favorite  (Features) on OurCity

blr%20weather.png  I like the weather section the right-top of the page. It is white text on blue background so you might miss it. It not only gives the weather conditions of a city but a click will take you to a page with deeper weather information. Notice that Delicious bookmarks for Bangalore weather are called out on the far right of the page.

The Events section is perfect if you are new to a city and are looking for ways to spend time or simply an events junkie who needs to check out new things. If you are one of my kind the events section could be a life safer!… I feel comfortable spending my evenings in the living-room couch — multitasking: sipping tea, watching Sienfeld, passing irritated comments on the Indian cricket team, reading a book, and typing new ideas to save the world from boring monolithic software companies on my laptop…The Events section will allow you to nod your head in all-knowing wisdom during several watercooler conversations ;)
