IIM Bangalore & Stanford GSB -- 2 Top Silicon Valley B-Schools Get Closer

IIM Bangalore and Stanford GSB -- top Business Schools located in the Silicon Valleys of India (Bangalore) and US have taken the first steps to bringing their students closer and deeping knowledge exchange.

Its the perfect move. Stanford GSB for sure would love to have IIM B as a partner to help its students, researchers, and faculty to access the hub of India's economic rise -- powered in a critical way by its IT industry. IIM B has been looking to expand and set up base in Singapore. Academic partnership with Stanford GSB would help IIM B build its presence and brand in the United States -- while allowing its own students and academicians to study in the American Silicon Valley. India's IIT's are already respected world-wide for providing top Technology education.

IIMs are set to show a similar rise on the world-stage -- given the immense quality of their students, faculty. With its students and alumni in high demand in India and abroad -- it makes perfect sense for IIM B to reach out and take its natural place amongst the top B-Schools of the world. Alumni of IIMs are amongst CEOs of top corporations world-wide. Very recently Indira Nooyi, alumna of IIM Calcutta became the CEO & President of PepsiCo. Interestingly Rajeev Bakshi of IIM Bangalore is the CEO of Pepsico in India.

IIM B offers 3 Graduate level Management programs: PGP (Management), PGSEM (Software Enterprise Management), and PGPPM (Public Policy Management) along with several executive and short term non-degree programs. Stanford GSB offers 2 Graduate level Management programs: MBA and Sloan Masters along with several certificate and executive education programs. Both schools offer Doctoral programs in Management also.

Both IIM Bangalore and Stanford GSB are blessed with the strategic advantage of location. Proximity to the two foremost Techonolgy Hubs of the world. Their partnership is natural and expected. I was wondering why it was taking so long!
