Who does the Brand Bangalore belong to?

Continued from my previous post: Does Bangalore "Need" a name change? and Demented Politicians bent upon destroying Brand Bangalore.

The Indian IT industry has responded in polite frustration, trying to sound friendly to "locals" and local politicans with big egos.

HP GlobalSoft managing director Som Mittal:

Though a change of name overnight may create some confusion in the beginning, we may have no choice but start using the official one to rebuild the brand all over again

According to National Association of Software and Service Companies president Kiran Karnik:

Though there may be some reluctance initially, we have to respect the sentiments of the local people and abide by what the government decides

Who does Brand Bangalore belong to? The locals? Who built Brand Bangalore? The "locals"? No! No No!! NO NO NO!!!

It was the hard working middle class Indians working in the IT industry. Please mark my italicization of the word Indians. It was not a specific Indian from a specific state that built Brand Bangalore -- it was a common Indian working hard to make a living and make a mark in this world. But of course, the politicans who get votes from locals can create a mindless "movement" about the "feelings" of locals being suppressed if Bangalore does not get renamed as Bengaluru. Mahatama Gandhi started the Quit India movement, I think it is time for Indians to tell our demented corrupt sick politicians to "Quit India."

Yet another arrogant Software engineer who thinks his Industry built bangalore.

Dear Anonymous,
If you have better insight on this subject why don't you share your wisdom on what actually built Bangalore into a Global Brand if not the IT and Knowledge Industry?
Maybe you will help several people change their perspective.

I am sorry, I do not agree with you on this one.
Now, you say what is there in a Name ?

If changing names can feed empty bellies, change away...change it everyday. But, what would you do when the populace finally figures out that the potholes, the traffic snarls, the filthy heap, et al dont react positively to the change? Maybe then we will be asked to start refering to garbage as cool-bage, sexy-bage etc etc...nevermind the bumpy ride but keep singing vande materum, thats all that matterums. lets change the damn vocabulary and not leave any obtuse issues unchanged in terms of nomenclature .

But the good side is that there's time and hope.. in a few decades some local will figure out what Bangluru, Mumbai, Kolkata etc were called fifty million years ago - before those bloody biped neanderthals came along and corrupted everything..then we shall change, yet,yet,yet........ again.

The bad polity (oxymoron?) are incapable of fathoming public issues, as probably somewhere in cleaning up that malaise one would end up a full circle and some politician would have to take the tumble(...but that day the flying pigs would probably cushion his fall!!)

Bingo!

I don' agree whit changing the Bangalore name, this brand was created in time, it has gain a certain notoriety, certain markets and clients. Changing it's name will create confusion and mistrust.

Thanks for your comment. It seems you support the idea of keeping Brand Bangalore alive. I guess you used the word "notoriety" by mistake and meant noticeability? Notoriety means ill fame.
