Narayan Murthy of Infosys Technologies to Retire on Aug 20
Narayan Murthy will retire on August 20, 2006 as the Chairman of Infosys Technologies (INFY). He will continue as the Chief Mentor of Infosys, a company he co-founded and built into a world-wide giant in 25 years.
Widely respected in India and in the international business world, Mr. Murthy studied Electrical Engineering at the Mysore University and then completed an MTech from IIT Kanpur.
During his long standing public life Mr. Murthy’s social leadership and contribution to business have been recognized several times:
- TIME/CNN - 25 most influential global executives
- Padma Shri, civilian award by the Govt of India in 2000
- World Entreprenuer of the Year - 2003 by Ernst & Young.
- Asia’s Businessman of the Year for 2003 by Fortune magazine.
- 8th most admired CEO in 2005 by Economic Intelligence Unit
- Most admired business leader in India in 2006 for fifth year running, study by Brand-comm a Brand Consulting and PR firm.
