
Business week has published rankings of World's 100 most valuable Brands in 2006 -- a list released by Interbrand. 2 of the Top 3 are Tech Brands -- a clear sign of how Important a force Information Technology is in a Globlalized world. 15 Technology (Software, Hardware, Internet, and Networking) companies have made it to the list. If I count electronics and Digital Lifestyle manufacturers -- which is an extended face of IT -- then the list counts 21.
Following Coca Cola are Microsoft Corp. (MSFT) at Rank 2 and IBM Corp. (IBM) at Rank 3 -- showcasing that Information Technology is the 2nd most powerful Brand Creator -- after a popular soft-drink that is daily consumed by people of all age groups.
Intel Corp. (INTC) is ranked 5th. Amongst the other top Hardware players are Hewlett Packard Company (HPQ) at Rank 13 and DELL Inc. (DELL) at Rank 25. Google (GOOG) Rank 24, eBay (EBAY) Rank 47, Yahoo! Inc. (YHOO) Rank 55, and Amazon.com Inc. (AMZN) Rank 65 cover the list from the worlds top online players. Iconic Apple Computer Inc. (AAPL) is ranked 39th on the list by Interbrand.
Oracle Corp. (ORCL) with Rank 29 is followed closely by rival SAP A.G. with Rank 34. Cisco, XEROX, Accenture make the rest of the list from Tech players.
Nokia, Sony, Samsung, LG and Motorola -- all makers of mobile phones and other digital lifestyle devices if counted make take the worlds most valued Tech Brands to 21.
