
Soon after Red Hat announced the US $ 350 million acquisition of open source database maker JBoss; Larry Ellison CEO of Oracle Corp. stated in an interview with Financial Times on April 16th that he is looking out for some more acquisitions.
Ellison’s strategy to beat competition from Microsoft, IBM, and SAP in various lines of its businesses has been to build a complete stack of offerings -- from databases to applications that use them.
''We're missing an operating system," Ellison said referring to Oracle Corp’s (ORCL) product strategy gap for handling Microsoft (MSFT). ''You could argue that it makes a lot of sense for us to look at distributing and supporting Linux." But Red Hat (RHAT) is also a part of the equation of Oracle’s interest in Linux.
