Yahoo Mindset Search — Slider Issues

by Ujwal Tickoo on April 16th, 2006

In my previous two posts I have explained the basics of how Mindset Search from Yahoo Inc. works and how Yahoo Mindset sorts results when you use the super cool slider it offers. In this post I will consider some of the slider limitations I notice in Yahoo Mindset.

  1. Playing free online games –  I don’t want to buy them or read research reports on online gaming.
  2. Read jokes online — neither research nor buy jokes. In this case also the nomenclature falls apart.

One possible solution is to name the mid-point something like "Regular Web Search" and rename the two endpoints as "Shop" and "Research"?

Overall, I am so happy with Yahoo Mindset that I am hoping that the Mindset team builds a Yahoo Widget (previously Konfabulator Widget) so that I can have Yahoo Mindset right on my desktop! Another useful place to see Mindset could be the Yahoo Toolbar.
