About Ujwal Tickoo

by Ujwal Tickoo on March 11th, 2006

My career of over a decade spans Software, Software Localization, Internet, and Publishing Industries in India, Europe, US, and Middle East Asia. I am passionate about Strategies, Businesses, Brands, People, Leadership and Management Issues related with Technology Companies — especially Software firms.

In the tech world I have worked at and shipped several software products from Yahoo!, Quark Inc., Macromedia (now Adobe), and Winsoft (an Adobe partner for multilingual versions of Adobe software). I am currently working as Director Product Management, Mobile Media at Roamware. For the initial years of my career, I worked with a world-wide Non-Profit organization SRF in its publishing division.

Here is www.linkedin.com/in/ujwaltickoo my LinkedIn profile if you wish to know more about my work & professional life.

All thoughts on this blog are mine and dont represent any company or organization. Before I started this blog I was posting at my WordPress blog titled Tech Strategist.

In my free time besides blogging, I like to read books that range  from Dilbert to typography, design, management, meditation and mysticism! I also like to cook, hit the gym (whenever I can), go on quiet vacations to lovely places around the world, do volunteer work and polish my ("in-imagination" great) singing skills ;)! I totally love delicious food and my favorites are Indian, Lebanese, Greek, and Chinese.

Welcome to Know More Media, Ujwal! Singing is a favorite pastime of mine as well. Now let’s get down to business … who will win American Idol this year?

Looking forward to reading your posts.

Thanks Dan! I follow the Indian version of the “American Idol” and I can tell you that its quite popular here…:)
In Indian Idol, my favorite this year is Karunya, but I am unsure that he will win. In Indian Idol people vote by sms for their favorite singers and a sigle person can send unlimited sms votes. Therefore quite a few talented folks have been voted of the program already. I am quite frustrated with this sms 1 person many votes format — though I know the TV channel gets good money. It seems unfair…Does American Idol have a similar voting process?

Ujwal, American Idol lets you vote as many times as you want by calling a toll-free phone number or (if you have a certain kind of cell phone carrier - I think it’s Cingular) sending a text message to a certain number. Sadly, sometimes the votes do seem to favor less talented but more … charismatic? camera-friendly? controversial? characters.

Since you two are discussing about American/Indian Idol…

Taylor won the title. Birmingham, Al got some talents. This is second for that city.

    Nischal,
Thanks for the update. Here is my Gyan post on Social Search’s limitations and — its explanation of the collective irrationality of the American / Indian Idol.
    Cheers!
